Journeys is a company with “An Attitude That Cares.” We reward and encourage our employees to volunteer. The ATC Community Service Program gives our employees a chance to get involved and get paid!
The Community Service Policy provides Store Managers and Co-Managers, who have worked for the Company at least six (6) months, with eight (8) hours per fiscal year of paid time to volunteer for a recognized 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
This year, Journeys partnered with the Vans Warped Tour Service Day to help the Living Legacy Project with their mission to plant a tree for each of the 620,000 soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Civil War. As a living commemoration for the soldiers’ individual and combined sacrifices, twenty Journeys employees from three different districts spent the day restoring a battlefield and planting trees in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. They worked alongside volunteers from the Vans Warped Tour including tour founder Kevin Lyman as well as band members from Memphis May Fire and Set It Off.

8TH ANNUAL VANS WARPED TOUR CHARITY BOWLING TOURNAMENT
Touring bands, staff and sponsors bowl for a good cause at the Vans Warped Tour Bowling Tournament benefiting Living The Dream & Unite the United. The tournament grows every year and has become an event that all the bands and crew look forward to. Past tournament champions include: Hawthorne Heights, Every Time I Die (2008 & 2012), Vans, Motion City Soundtrack and Hellogoodbye.

Founded by the producers of the Vans Warped Tour and Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. DECA and Journeys have had an ongoing relationship since the 1990s. Journeys is a proud sponsor of DECA by offering financial support and seeking to hire qualified students to work in our retail stores. Journeys also supports DECA by sharing practical business experience in classrooms and participating in local and international DECA events.

DECA Inc. is a not-for-profit student organization with members in all 50 states, Washington D.C., Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition. Student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.
DECA students are driven, hard working and motivated. The students choose to be a part of DECA and often compete with their local chapter in role-plays or yearlong projects at regional and international competitions. DECA students are also head of the curve by taking business courses in high school!

Fifth graders love to shop at area Journeys stores, and now they can work there, too! Journeys partnered with Junior Achievement (JA) of Middle Tennessee to open a JA BizTown retail store in Nashville, Tennessee. Journeys' annual sponsorship will ensure that area students are inspired to achieve success as they apply what they learn inside classroom to real-world business situations. Students will work together in the JA BizTown Journeys as CEO, CFO and sales managers to make the store a thriving part of the JA BizTown economy.
Journeys not only financially supports JA BizTown, but it also sends volunteers to train best business practice and inspire the young students that visit JA BizTown.
ABOUT JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT
Locally, Junior Achievement (JA) of Middle Tennessee, a franchise of Junior Achievement USA(r), provides in-school and after-school programs for students which focus on three key content areas: work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
Through a dedicated volunteer network, JA offers classroom-based programs, JA BizTown, JA Job Shadow, and the JA Company Program to students in Kindergarten through high school. Founded in Middle Tennessee in 1957, Junior Achievement now operates in 18 counties in the region, reaching over 30,000 students annually in over 2,000 classrooms throughout Middle Tennessee.
JA BizTown is a lifelike mini-city that provides a realistic setting for students to experience the workplace. The program, operated by Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee, combines six weeks of classroom learning with a day spent running the town. Students hold jobs, manage personal checking and savings accounts, buy and sell merchandise, and work as a team to run successful businesses in the town. Corporate and foundation support make it possible for JA to offer this unique program to 8,000 students throughout Middle Tennessee each year.
At Rocketown, we strive to share our core values of love and service through creative programs and mentoring relationships that are culturally relevant and eternally significant.
Rocketown serves youth primarily 12-20 years of age, of all races, religions and socio-economic backgrounds. We engage teens by attracting them to activities they enjoy. This leads to building personal relationships, fostering community among kids and staff, and helping to develop their purpose - all based on acceptance, inclusion and love. We are proud to partner with Journeys and Genesco to ensure that every kid in Middle Tennessee has a fun and safe place where they can hang out, enjoy a concert, skateboard and find creative ways to grow and express themselves.
Recently, employees from the Journeys corporate office visited Rocketown to spend time with kids in their after school programs. We split into four teams and played kickball, punked some chucks, participated in team building exercises and shared a meal together.
