This year, 3,000 high schools registered for the Vans Custom Culture contest and received a box containing four blank pairs of Vans to design around four themes: art, music, action sports, and local flavor. Now, all the designs have been submitted and Vans has narrowed down their Top 50. It's up to the public to vote on their favorite designs between April 26 and May 10 by going online to vote at vans.com/customculture. The semifinalists will compete in the final event in Los Angeles, California.
Journeys presented the 5th Annual Journeys Local Attitude Award at the Vans Custom Culture event in Los Angeles in June 2016. Journeys has committed to awarding $15,000 to the school with the best “Local Flavor” themed shoe to fund their art program. The 2016 Journeys Local Flavor winner was Moanaluah High School from Honolulu, Hawaii.
