2017 Timberland x Journeys: Philly Urban Greening
On Friday October 13th, Timberland and Journeys joined together to green up a section of Philadelphia's cityscape as part of Timberland's Urban Greening initiative. This is the third year in a row where Timberland has invited Journeys to partner with them to create a green space for urban communities. This year over 100 volunteers from Timberland, Journeys, and the City Center District Foundation teamed up to turn the city's abandoned Rail Park into an elevated green space, similar to the idea behind the High Line in New York. Volunteers completed Phase 1 of the urban greening project which included laying out over 65 yards of dirt, transporting hundreds of pavers, and planting over 800 shrubs.
This effort is part of a 5 year initiative by Timberland to green up the cities where people live, work, and play. By the end of the 5 years Timberland hopes to have matched their green space footprint to match their retail footprint. Timberland, who is celebrating 25 years of their company-wide Path of Service program, asked Journeys to help green up this abandoned space that is set to open in early 2018. Journey s is proud to work with brands like Timberland that take intiative to better their communities and to provide employees a chance to volunteer and give back to their community.

2016 Timberland x GrowNYC
On June 22, 2016, Journeys returned to New York City for the second year in a row with an even bigger crew to team up with one of our favorite earth-conscious brands, Timberland!
Timberland partnered with GrowNYC at the United We Stand Garden in the Mott Haven neighborhood of South Bronx, NY to restore 32,000 sq. ft. of green space that was recently devastated by fire. Almost 70 Journeys employees, along with volunteers from Timberland and GrowNYC, spent the day in Mott Haven building picnic tables, making raised garden beds, and filling out the entire space with wood chips, mulch, and soil. Together they moved eight tons of wood chips for pathways, 11 tons of soil for community garden use, constructed 30 garden beds, built eight picnic tables and five benches, moved one shed from one end of the park to the oth er, and created one bootprint-shaped flower bed to leave Timberland’s mark.
Journeys is proud to partner with brands that do good, and even more proud of our Journeys employees that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and show how much they care.

Earth Day Service NYC
While Earth Day is celebrated in different ways around the world, Timberland employees recognize the day in their own unique way by pulling on their boots to make a difference. In celebration of Earth Day, approximately 1,800 Timberland employees, business partners, and consumers from around the world will serve close to 13,000 hours at more than 60 community service projects in 20 countries.
This year for Earth Day Journeys partnered with Timberland to help revitalize a rundown 70,000 square foot pumping station, destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, into a usable green farm space! Thirty-two of our employees (from 6 different districts), along with volunteers from Timberland and Grow NYC, spent the day in Coney Island moving soil, building furniture, sign painting and cleaning up the garden.
